Welcome to my Portfolio
Welcome to my personal website and e-portfolio, this website features some of my projects done for school in the Broadcast and Online Journalism Program at BCIT and work away from school.
How I got to BCIT
Born in 1999, I graduated High School at Duchess Park Secondary School in 2017 with a Double Dogwood Certificate, one in English and one in French Immersion. I also completed a year of post-secondary courses at the College of New Caledonia in PG prior to applying for BCIT. I was accepted in the spring of 2018 and started my studies in the fall of 2018, moving down to the Lower Mainland from Prince George.
Why I chose journalism
Over the years, I've had the opportunity to be a part of a handful of provincial and national events.
In February 2015, I got my big start into what has now become a big part of my life, broadcasting and journalism. Over the span of 15 days, the Canada Winter Games were held in Prince George where I got to DJ and announce men's and women's hockey games including both Gold Medal games.
Thanks to that experience, I met the station manager of 94.3 The Goat FM, a local radio station in Prince George who took me in in the fall of 2015 and taught me how to operate the audio board for Prince George Cougars games during the following 3 seasons. One thing led to another, and with an open vacancy in the weekend on-air hosting position, I was in the right place at the right time to move on the air consistently for the first time.
At the age of 15 it hit me, broadcasting was what I was meant to do.
After volunteering at the 2015 Canada Winter Games, a local radio station personality took notice of me and offered me a job at the local radio station board op'ing on locations, and Prince George Cougars Broadcasts. I stuck with the job for almost 3 years, and I was offered the position to do be the Weekend Personality for 94.3 The Goat FM. It was during this period at the local small town radio station where I fell in love with broadcasting and journalism, and here I am today.
